Why We Love the Musical Ladder!

Did you know we are the only music school in the Inland Northwest using the Musical Ladder testing program?  Our students love it and we love seeing their smiling faces every week as they show off their progress.

Sometimes parents will come to me and say their child is not practicing and it is becoming a problem.  Well, the Musical Ladder is the answer to that!  All of our students are invited to participate and they will definitely practice for their upcoming tests so they can pass and level up the ladder.  It is a great motivator to keep working hard and the feeling of accomplishment once they pass is great. We always celebrate each student as they level up and we encourage our parents to really make a big deal about it because it takes a lot of work to perfect a skill on their instrument.

Students are tested by their teachers every few months, usually 3-6 months for a continuing program up to 10 years.  We have several students on the advanced track now, that is, over 5 years on their instrument.  They are well on their way to mastering their instrument!

If you have any questions about the program, don’t hesitate to let us know!

Enjoy the musical journey and keep leveling up!

Pet of the Month: Iris

Meet Iris. She thinks she’s a human and that everything should be on her terms. If you talk to her she’ll answer back with a quick meow and look at you sideways if you don’t understand what she wants. She refuses to drink water that’s not running from the faucet. You can find her at the kitchen table waiting to be served, or enjoying a quick bedtime story before jumping up to the couch for a cat nap. Oh, and she doesn't like light shining in her eyes as she’s trying to sleep, so be a dear and dim the lights. –from the Avdeyev family Do you have a cute pet? Alivia is 12 years old and has been studying piano for 4 months.  She is a 6th grader at Woodland Middle School.

Her favorite color is purple. She loves to eat tacos. Yum!

Her favorite song to play is “Jingle Bells”

When she is not singing, Alivia likes to cheer!

Her teacher, Britta, says: “Alivia has been a pleasure to teach.  She is a very kind and sweet person.   She works hard and is prepared every week.
